The five member sat up giving us their undivided attention, f(x) who has a unique style of music with their powerful performances and distinctive fashion style, we finally met.
f(x) who debuted in 2009 with "La Ta Cha" and never failed to let us down with their hit songs such as "NU ABO", "Danger", "Hot summer" amongst others has finally come back after a 1 year long hiatus. On the 13th, they've released their second mini album "Electric Shock", immediately after their release they've topped music charts, real time searches, and even music programs. Within the first week of release of their "Electric Shock" MV they've reached over 10 million views, once again proving their popularity.
Having debuted for 3 years, the function girls are finally back.
★ Deemed with popularity, just a few more steps to go.
→ Recently you've been so popular, what do you feel?
Sulli: "Your song is really good", "Your music video was really good", we've received a lot of these compliments.
Luna: The day that our song got released on various music portal sites, the exact same night our songs were being played in different stores in Hongdae and my friend just called me to tell me that.
Victoria: Even in home shopping sites, our music albums were on it. It felt good.
→ What do you think the reason, for your music to be so widely accepted?
Victoria: f(x)'s music is always fresh and acceptable on many levels, this time the public could probably relate to our music style, thats probably why.
Luna: f(x) always tries out a new type of music, always challenging. We always try new things and put our efforts on everything we do.
Because of f(x)'s previous songs such as "Pinocchio (Danger)" and "Hot Summer" has topped charts and was so widely accepted that it was considered as one of the hit songs, this time it had to be popular too.
"Pinocchio and Hot Summer were huge hits for f(x) so this time we had a lot of pressure. If last time we showed you a colorful performance, this time we'll show you rainbows. If last time you liked us, this time you'll love us. This is what we were hoping for." Luna said.
→ What is unique about f(x)?
Krystal: Even though our fandom isn't that big nor is it powerful, but we dont seem to lose others. We just want to be a successful and influential girl group. In the future we would like to be a girl group that can reach out to the parent and older generations as well as the children and the younger generation.
→ You've been called the "K-pop Trend"
Sulli: Right now, we're still far from it. But each year, we'll try to improve and take a larger step forward, f(x) will not stop. We will always persevere.
★ A long hiatus and individual activities, how do you cope?
The five members of f(x) has been going on a long hiatus after their last promotion for the song "Hot Summer", each of them has been engaged in a personal and individual activities afterwards. Krystal has a filming for an MBC Sit-Com "High Kick 3", Victoria is currently filming a Chinese drama, Luna has a musical, and Amber has a variety program with KBS 2TV "Invincible Youth".
"After debut, everyone has been having their individual schedules, although its a little lonely sometimes we seem to cope with it well since filming takes up a lot of our time. f(x) will come together to practice whether its singing or dancing, but we do. This time around, our comeback seems to be an even bigger force for us to practice even harder." Luna and Krystal had responded.
→ The members seems to be closer to one another.
Sulli: The members are not always together but we are always really close to one another. Because we all have smartphones, we'll all have this group chat we're we talk all the time. Although we're really tired sometimes or we're really busy, we always chat. Sometimes we even take funny selcas and send them to one another.
→ What are your expectations for this album.
Sulli: We just want people to know who we are. Whether its a male or a female, if they know our name and our music, it would be great.
→ Your goals in the future?
Krystal: We would like to be the representatives of k-pop. When foreign fans think of k-pop if they think of f(x) then it will be great. After our youtube channel view broke 10 million views, we realized the power of k-pop and how much impact it has on everyone, so if we were able to represent k-pop then it would be a great honor.
→ K-pop seems to be different from the American music culture.
Amber: Although I don't have much knowledge of the American music style, but i'm sure that k-pop is definitely not the same as American music. It isn't similar to European style either, k-pop is definitely one of a kind.
Victoria: Just like how Jajangmyeon is available in both China and Korea, K-pop is probably the same. It has arrived in America doesn't mean it is similar to the American music.
